This airport is a very viable alternative to trying to land at Denver Stapleton or whatever the new airport will be called. The FBO is very helpful and you can rent a car there to get into the city. The Holiday Inn down the road toward Denver has great breakfast that comes with the room. Denver has all the big city stuff as well as the neat walk-around sections but you do need a car to get to them from the airport. (ked 9/94)

You can stay in Durango, what should be a wild West town but is really more like a mountain town. The drive into Mesa Verde is a must. Just don’t back up on any of the roads in the park....they give tickets for just about anything there. (ked 9/94)

Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal (FNL)

There are several small motels in town that are remarkably cheap. Drive up to Rocky Mountain State Park, where you will experience multiple levels of nature, from the desert up through to tundra, a change in temperature from 90 degrees to 30 in an hours drive (be sure to wear layers of clothing to add and subtract as you move up and down).
