VERMONT

Mount Snow (4V8)

West Dover, VT (1mi)
New York Sectional
Elevation: 1953

The runway 01/19 was rather bumpy - pot holes and 3' snow banks. Nice speed bump on the entry ramp: caution! Fuel was $2.39/gal.- self serve.

Bob North runs the airport and charges $5 to land and $3 for each passenger/pilot. He's been know to fly jets out of the 2,650' runway!!!

He was ready to make a deal on the ground transportation - Buzzy's taxi will take you to the slopes for $15 each way and Bob was kind enough to rent us his 4 wheel vehicle for $25 - just keep the window open and the fumes don't get you! I wonder if it would have been any more costly if we told him we were from NYC.

The ride to Mt. Snow was less than 10 minutes. The center of town looked to have a few decent restaurants as well as ski rental shops. There was also a golf course on our way to the slopes. Looked to be a decent course - under the snow. (Patric Wallace, 3/28/2003)
